Long Tran knew from a young age that his love for playing with Lego’s and building waffle towers at breakfast would lead him to a future in
After graduation, Long started working as a project estimator at a painting subcontractor and small site contractor. Long then took his skills back to Vietnam to work for his family business as a construction manager in real estate development. With a few years of experience under his belt, the itch for continued education drove him back to the US to earn his master’s degree in construction management at Jefferson University in East Falls. While attending school, Long was offered a volunteer job working at a local construction management company’s charity golf event. That company was Scungio Borst Construction Management. While volunteering he met owners Phil Borst and Scott Scungio, who were quickly impressed with Long’s passion and knowledge of the industry. Shortly after the event, Long was offered a full-time internship; the rest is history.
Long now works for Scungio Borst as a full-time project junior estimator. “SBA is like family. They genuinely care if I succeed and will go above and beyond to help me grow in my career. I can see myself here for a long time”. With this, he continues to impress his colleagues as a talented and hardworking employee. “Long is paving a bright future for himself at Scungio Borst & Associates and in the construction world with his enthusiasm for construction and construction knowledge, his excellent rapport with those around him and his ‘can do’ attitude. He stood out to us at our charity golf outing as a talent we wanted to bring into our corporate family and has shined with us ever since”, says his direct supervisor and director of preconstruction, Matt Elicker.
Long who was recently married, lives with his wife, Phuong, and three cats, Rain, Snow, and Sun. In his spare time, Long enjoys watching movies, playing tennis, camping, hiking, and spending time outdoors. Finally, he may look gentle but Long is a guy you want by your side on a dark night in Philadelphia. He holds a black belt in karate and can kick some major butt.
